Getting to the showcase

Manchester is well connected whether you're getting here by plane, train or by road. Platt Fields Park is located on Wilmslow Road which is approximately 2 miles outside Manchester City Centre. Wilmslow Road leads directly to Oxford St and Oxford Road and is a main thoroughfare into the city passing Rusholme (Manchester's famous 'curry mile'); the University Quarter and the BBC before arriving in the city centre. Airline Travel

Transport from Manchester City Centre from Manchester Airport

Bus: Skyline Stagecoach 43 from early morning until late night

Train: Up to 6 trains an hour link the airport to Manchester Piccadilly station in the city centre, where you can connect to fast rail services countrywide. If you're flying to Manchester Airport you can book your onward rail tickets online and collect them from the self-service ticket machines in the baggage reclaim halls. Alternatively, you can buy your tickets from the booking office in The Station.

Train Travel

Most major cities in the UK have direct train services into Manchester.

Manchester city centre is served 3 mainline stations all of which provide ongoing transport links nearby.

  • Manchester Piccadilly
  • Manchester Oxford Road
  • Manchester Victoria

Taxi

Each train station has a taxi rank nearby. Platt Fields Park is a short taxi ride from each station; taking approximately 10 minutes and costing no more than £7.00

Taxi journies from city centre hotels should cost a similar amount; expect to pay up to £10.00 for a taxi journey from an outlining hotel (e.g. Trafford Park)

By Bus

Platt Fields Park is very well served by to and from the city centre and depending on the bus company will cost between 50p and £1.20. You may take the following buses either from Piccadilly Gardens or outside the Palace Hotel on Oxford Rd: numbers - 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48 and the following buses depart from Victoria Station - 42A, 45A and 46. Platt Fields Park is situated directly pass the 'Curry Mile' district; descend at the first stop by the park.

On Foot

If you are feeling energetic it will take you around 30 - 40 minutes to walk to Platt Fields Park from the City Centre. The following landmarks may help:
