THE URBAN PLAYGROUND
Prodigal are resident at the Nightingale Theatre which they run. Their work investigates the audience-performer relationship through defiantly theatrical stagings which are epic within a small frame. This investigation has led the company from dynamic re-workings of classic texts out onto the streets for the wordless drama of dance at speed and height.
Gravity Style is the organisation of Charles Perriere and Malik Diouf, two of the creators of Parkour and members of “The Yamakasi” – the original Parkour Team.
With Prodigal, including scenographer Peter Farley, music by Wevie Stonder’s Chris Umney and mentor Charlie Morrissey, they are exploring the next evolution of their art – a form which originates with the obstacle course, re-emerges as urban discipline and now meets dance on the stages of the Urban Playground.
This ongoing collaboration creates dynamic choreographies exploring the relationship between the human body and the built environment redefining the audience’s vision of home.
